Gold

At Glam Jewelry, our jewelry is crafted with only the finest gold and metal material, ensuring you a lifetime of value. Learn more about the different types of gold karat that we offer to find the one that is right for you.

Gold

K stands for karat and refers to the percentage of gold in an alloy.

24K gold is 100% pure gold. Pure gold is very soft and is not suitable to be used for jewelry. The jewelry piece would dent and get scratched very easily. The higher amount of gold the jewelry consists of, the easier it is to bend.

18 Karat

18K is made out of 75% gold and 25% alloyed metals. This makes it softer than the 14K. Even if it is still durable, it is typically considered a special occasion piece. The 18K gold has a deep rich hue. Since it is almost pure gold, there is a very small chance that a person with allergies to different types of metal will react to it.

14 Karat

14K is made out of 58% gold and 42% alloyed metals. This makes the 14 karat jewelry pieces more durable and affordable. The lower karat makes it more convenient for daily wear and for engagement and wedding rings. It still has a rich color, but not as intense as the 18K.

10 Karat

10K is made out of 42% gold and 58% alloyed metals. 10K is more durable than 14K and 18K gold but the color is more pale compared to the other two. Because of the higher amount of metal, the 10K gold has a higher chance of causing skin irritation if you are allergic to certain types of metals.

Allergies

If you are allergic to copper, silver, nickel, zinc or iron, there is a possibility of you experiencing an allergic reaction if you wear the jewelry for a long period of time. In that case we do recommend that you invest in a piece with higher gold karat.
